J+A Designs was started by husband and wife team of Joe and Anne McMahon in 2015 to create and market simple household products that simplify and enhance everyday life.
Both Interior Designers by trade, Anne managed her own residental firm and taught Interior Design while raising a family in NJ and MA. Joe, an interior architect for several major design firms has created many workplace products for which he holds several patents. One of his patented light fixtures was selected for the Amtrak waiting room at Penn Station, New York City. This is our first product for market with J+A Designs. Several more are currently in development.
Joe created ButterOnce because as he put it, "It didn't make sense there wasn't a knife that could butter corn on the cob as easily as a buttering a slice of bread." So the ButterOnce Knife was created. Joe developed an array of plastic and metal prototypes before perfecting the ButterOnce handle and blade. Joe and Anne are excited to bring the ButterOnce Knife to the marketplace.
